Congresswoman and South Dakota gubernatorial candidate Kristi Noem was in Rapid City as part a series of stops Wednesday.
She spoke to American Legion Post 22 members Wednesday afternoon and also answered their questions. Noem stressed the importance of the Hot Springs VA Hospital, and her focus in Washington to keep that health care facility in place. She talked about several other veteran-related projects also in the works.
Kristi Noem says, “We talked about my support of the East River Veterans Cemetery that was signed into law by the governor not too long ago, and that I think that is exactly what we needed to see happen in the state of South Dakota. Then also at the federal level, that we’re continuing to fix the Choice Program, give the VA authority to hire and fire individuals, and then the 200 acre expansion to the Black Hills National Cemetery, that that bill is moving through Congress and we should see that completed by the end of the year.”
Noem also held a listening session at Lifeways on youth drug addiction earlier Wednesday morning and spoke at Bethel Assembly Church later in the afternoon.
